Fengqing (Grace) Yu

Hi! I’m a third-year Ph.D. student in Computation and Neural Systems at Caltech, working in Prof. Matt Thomson’s group. I am interested in studying self-organization in non-equilibrium biological systems and the general principles that govern their dynamics. I combine computational modeling with in vitro reconstitution experiments to characterize and predict dynamics in microtubule-motor systems across stationary and non-stationary regimes.

I love to explore interdisciplinary problems. In the past, I’ve had the privilege of working on astrostatistics with Prof. Ting Li & Prof. Joshua Speagle, computational neuroscience with Prof. Maged Goubran, bioprinting with Dr. Zongjie Wang, and drug response prediction with Prof. Benjamin Haibe-Kains.
